Trinity High School has been a charter member of the National Honor Society (NHS) of Secondary Schools since 1958. Our local chapter is designated as the St. John Vianney Chapter of the NHS, and membership in the Society includes both juniors and seniors. 

Membership in the NHS is a privilege and (according to National Constitution regulations) by invitation only. This invitation is extended by a five-member faculty panel and review board, which also relies on recommendations from the faculty of Trinity High School to all eligible students. To be considered for membership, a candidate must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or a ranking within the top 10 percent of his class. Besides scholarship, candidates are selected for leadership qualities, roles of service and good character.

At the end of each school year, candidates from the sophomore and junior classes are invited to become NHS members. The induction ceremony for qualifying candidates takes place in September of the following school year during Trinity’s annual Shamrock Awards Dinner. 

All interested sophomores and juniors who qualify are invited to apply for NHS membership. Applications will be available to sophomores and juniors beginning March 29. Interested candidates may get an application from Ms. Miller (library), Ms. Hall (T-114) or from Academic Services.

*Please be aware that all qualifying students do not automatically receive an application or a personal invitation. If a student qualifies and is interested in NHS, he must pick up the application, complete the same and return it to Ms. Miller or Ms. Hall before he will be considered for membership.
